Inventory Management SpecialistSummary: You will serve as an Inventory Management Specialist in the Job Readiness Coordination Branch (JRC) (530.1), Project Support Division (530), Supply Department (500) of Norfolk Naval Shipyard.ResponsibilitiesPlan, evaluate, and select appropriate locations for storing items associated with the repair and maintenance of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines, surface ships and submersibles.Perform status checks of material to ensure material is ready for issue upon completion of material needs review.Coordinate production and material handlers to ensure timely and convenient material delivery (e.g. direct material issue, consumables, and hazardous material (HAZMAT)).Report on material vending and ensure correct items are vended.Conditions of EmploymentMust be a U.S. Citizen.Must be determined suitable for federal employment.Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in withdrawal of a job offer or removal.This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.QualificationsAt least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service; or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.Experience utilizing core material and supply principles, as well as DOD specific supply and material policies, procedures, regulations, and ability to interpret/translate them.Experience applying cradle-to-grave supply chain management concepts, various inventory storage requirements for ship material (e.g. long, short, wet, dry), and ability to make determinations.Experience planning, evaluating, and selecting appropriate locations for storing items.Experience performing inventory status checks of material to ensure ready-for-issue, and reconciling material with inventories to identify late or missing deliveries.Experience prioritizing multiple resources and efforts simultaneously while operating in a high-traffic and dynamic environment.EducationIn lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education.OR successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.OR a combination of experience and graduate education that equates to one year of experience.BenefitsAs a federal employee, you and your family will have access to a range of benefits designed to make your federal career very rewarding.#J-18808-Ljbffr
