Position Summary

Responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining all tool room inventory, including tools, parts, bolts, and accessories. Ensures accurate tracking, proper storage, and accountability for all items issued and returned.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory of all tools, equipment, and consumables (including bolts, fasteners, etc.)
  • Conduct routine physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • Track inventory levels and notify supervisors when stock needs replenishment
  • Maintain organized storage systems for efficient access and control

Tool Check-In / Check-Out

  • Issue tools to employees and maintain detailed records of usage
  • Verify condition of tools upon return and document any damage or loss
  • Ensure accountability by tracking who has each tool and when it is due back
  • Enforce proper procedures for tool usage and return

Record Keeping & Documentation

  • Maintain logs (manual or digital) of all inventory and transactions
  • Prepare regular inventory reports for management
  • Document lost, damaged, or missing tools and follow established reporting procedures

Maintenance & Organization

  • Inspect tools regularly for wear and functionality
  • Coordinate repair or replacement of damaged equipment
  • Keep tool room clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure proper handling and storage of tools and materials
  • Enforce safety policies related to tool usage
  • Support audits and inspections as needed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, inventory software, etc.)
  • Ability to track and manage multiple items accurately
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with team members
  • Mechanical knowledge of tools and equipment preferred

Working Relationships

  • Reports To: Shop Foreman
  • Indirect Reporting: Superintendent (for inventory accountability and compliance)
  • Works Closely With: Field crews, maintenance staff, and supervisors
