Key Responsibilities
Assemble electronic and electromechanical units such as power supplies, modules, chassis drawers, cable harnesses, PC boards, and related subassemblies.
Perform soldering and desoldering of throughhole and surfacemount (SMT) components.
Install and remove discrete components (transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, inductors, etc.) on printed circuit assemblies (PCAs) using soldering iron and/or hotair tools.
Follow production drawings, sample assemblies, verbal instructions, and established workmanship standards.
Interpret electromechanical schematics, work instructions, and bills of material to determine required parts and assembly steps.
Read wiring diagrams and select appropriate electronic components.
Mount components onto chassis panels using hand tools, soldering equipment, meters, and basic test instruments.
Connect lead wires, route wiring, and terminate connections to components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
Position and align parts using jigs, fixtures, or other holding devices.
Join or secure parts using crimping, staking, bolting, riveting, welding, soldering, cementing, or pressfit techniques.
Use hand and small power tools to place components on boards, cables, and connectors; perform basic inspections and tests.
Perform additional assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and colorcoding.
Trim or adjust components to meet electrical or dimensional specifications.
Conduct hand soldering and microscopeassisted soldering/inspection when required.
Perform go/nogo testing and inprocess inspections to ensure compliance with production standards.
Troubleshoot, rework, and repair defective units.
Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of flammable and hazardous chemicals.
Complete required production records, logs, and documentation.
