Aircraft Technician

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Aircraft Technician to join our flight operations team in Newport News, VA. The Aircraft Technician is responsible for upholding the highest standards of safety and performance by ensuring strict compliance with inspection protocols, industry standards, and manufacturer guidelines, all in line with the applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The technician's expertise ensures the aircraft remains in top condition, ready for safe and efficient operation.

Inspection and Compliance: Completes inspection records, reports, and forms per CFRs and manufacturer guidelines. Inspects aircraft and approves maintenance actions to meet airworthiness standards

Safety and Maintenance Planning: Participates in the Safety Management System. Develops maintenance and inspection procedures in collaboration with the Director of Maintenance

Systems and Repairs: Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs aircraft mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Adjusts aircraft systems rigging. Services and inspects auxiliary power units and aircraft engines. Performs aircraft servicing and structural repairs.

Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Maintains interior components and hangar facilities. Repairs ground support equipment.

Aircraft Handling and Supervision: Performs Aircraft Handler/Cleaner duties. Operates tug for aircraft repositioning. Supervises outside maintenance contractors

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Holds a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Experience performing maintenance on various types of corporate aircraft, Falcon or Embraer, preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including travel, as needed.
