The Clerk Cashier duties will include, but not be limited to:
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.
MINIMUMS: High school or GED plus one (1) year of experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules will be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather.
Requires a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements.
We are hiring for multiple part-time schedule formats. One will work varied hours per week but will not exceed an average of 27 hours per week. The other position will work an average of 32-37 hours per work, making the selected candidate potentially eligible for some of the Citys benefits program.
Must be available to work varied hours (early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays) to facilitate facility operations. Shifts could include: Weekdays 4:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., mid-shift 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., closing shift 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and weekend shifts on Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Some assignments may require overtime or split shifts to cover operational needs. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours or may be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies, including weekends, evenings and holidays. Work location may change based on operational needs.
As a condition of employment, all part-time employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided your training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permittable, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.
