Senior Project Engineer

Description:

Olive Recruiting is searching for a Senior Project Engineer for our client in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for writing procedures, overseeing project execution, ensuring technical accuracy, and leading engineering teams to achieve project milestones successfully.

Location: Houston, TX
Full-time, direct hire with client
Schedule: Hybrid schedule - 3 days in office
Compensation: Competitive salary, benefits package, and performance-based bonuses. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in engineering, design, and drafting
  • Support the Project Manager by conducting periodic project reviews and preparing status reports
  • Act as an interface with clients, ensuring alignment on project goals and deliverables
  • Prepare and monitor project and procurement plans, ensuring timely execution
  • Identify and manage delays to mitigate adverse impacts on project completion
  • Oversee third-party equipment hire and ensure timely return upon project completion
  • Conduct project debrief meetings and prepare project close-out reports
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, guidelines, and best practices
  • Assist in cost monitoring and control for tenders and projects
  • Provide offshore technical support and manage on-site operations
  • Oversee the design, manufacture, and testing of equipment and tooling packages
  • Develop engineering documentation, including lifting design, installation, and testing procedures
  • Ensure safety, environmental, and quality considerations are addressed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage and instruct personnel at operational sites regarding compliance with safety and technical standards
  • Participate in risk assessment and hazard identification processes
  • Encourage safe work practices and address potential risks
  • Report HSE incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Ocean, Mechatronics, Naval Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, or related fields); Chartered Engineer status preferred; certifications in Senior First Aid, MSIC, and BOSIET are a plus
  • Minimum 5 years in engineering with leadership and team coaching experience
  • Expertise in subcontractor and site management for fabrication, testing, and offshore operations
  • Background in underwater intervention, ROV construction, and diving operations in oil and gas
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards
  • Proven ability to manage HSE and QA/QC matters
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership abilities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Commercial awareness and budget management expertise
