The City of Hampton is hiring Beach Lifeguard Captains for a rewarding and action-packed summer. Make a difference while enjoying the sun, surf, and a supportive team environment!
Come join our Hampton Beach Patrol Team and help us protect our community as they enjoy our beaches this summer! This position plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of the beach lifeguards and performs beach lifeguard duties to ensure public safety at City beaches. May supervise others.

Please note: There are multiple vacancies for this seasonal position. This job posting will remain open until filled.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Requires a minimum of (5) five years of experience as a lifeguard at a public beach or in a public pool facility to include one (1) year of experience supervising the work of others.
• Must possess a current Lifeguard Certification (including Deep Water) from a nationally recognized organization, i.e. American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, YMCA of USA, or equivalent.
• Must successfully complete Preventing Disease Transmission, Oxygen Administration (AED) training within 30 days of employment.
• Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification is preferred.
• This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
• Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion (18 and older).

Additional Requirements

• Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
• Must possess good eyesight and hearing.
• Requires shift work to include weekends and holidays.
• May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week.
• The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
