Advex Corporation is seeking an experienced Marine and Industrial Pipe Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have shipboard and industrial welding experience and a strong understanding of various welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW/MIG.

A hands-on weld test will be required, which includes Cuni socket and butt weld tests, as well as carbon steel butt welds using 309 filler metal, all performed in a 6G or 6GR position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc), and GMAW/MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding) processes.
  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel pipes using SMAW and GTAW processes, including fusion inserts and open root welding.
  • Execute mirror welds using SMAW and GTAW processes.
  • Use an oxygen/propane heating torch for pre-heating materials as required.
  • Utilize fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale to ensure accurate measurements and weld quality.
  • Work in physically demanding environments such as shipboard settings, sub-assemblies, ladders, and staging areas.
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, particularly those relevant to shipbuilding and industrial environments.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of five years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class pipe welder.
  • Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW/MIG welding techniques.
  • Ability to perform welding in challenging positions (6G/6GR) and environments.
  • Experience with welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel pipe materials.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as fillet gauges, butt gauges, and scales to inspect welds.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues on complex projects.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and knowledge of OSHA regulations in the shipbuilding and industrial sectors.


Employment Eligibility Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of U.S. Person Status (Due to government contracts, U.S. Citizenship is required.)
  • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven (7) years from disposition date
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three (3) years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit a background check
