Staff Accountant

Location: Chesapeake, VA (Hybrid 1 remote day per week)

A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position is well-suited for a professional who enjoys working with numbers, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to a smooth and efficient month-end close process.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Prepare and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and variance analysis
• Maintain organized and well-documented workpapers supporting all reconciliations
• Identify discrepancies and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues promptly
• Support annual audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation
• Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 13 years of accounting experience preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software, including QuickBooks Online
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
