This position is located in Newport News, Virginia. Responsibilities include performing multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process, operating burning and heating equipment, interpreting complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, comprehending fractional dimensions using a ruler, assembling structural piece parts according to specifications, working effectively in physically demanding environments, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and utilizing vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns.
Essential skills include single and multi-pass tack welding, burning using oxygen/propane burning torch, heating using oxygen/propane heating torch, ability to read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, ability to comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler, and ability to lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly.

Work in the largest shipyard in the world, located in Southeast Virginia. The environment varies with hot and muggy summers and cool winters. Work on Navy vessels or in a shop setting, with shifts available around the clock: 1st shift (7am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30-11pm), and 3rd shift (11pm-7am).
This is a contract position based out of Newport News, VA. The pay range for this position is $45.00/hr.
