Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range.
Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene regulations per Virginia Department of Health, James City County, and other agencies.
Maintain a clean workstation area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves.
Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products.
Perform additional tasks as may be assigned.
Line Cook Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree preferred.
1-3 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort.
Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills.
Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
Ability to read and follow cooking directions.
Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Must be organized and self-motivated.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, stretch, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Prep Cook Responsibilities Include:
Sets up food items and other necessary supplies.
Label and stock ingredients on shelves to be organized and accessible.
Ensures that the daily prep tasks are completed prior to service.
Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry, or fish.
Maintain a clean workstation area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves.
Perform additional tasks as may be assigned.
