This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population. Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce magnetic resonance images of prescribed anatomy. Position patients for MR scans using positioning aides and protective equipment to comply with organizational policy and to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance. Assist radiologist with procedure performance when required. Obtain intravenous access administer contrast media as directed and per protocol. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality sequence of exposure and label appropriately. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions. Apply accurate and appropriate charges in a timely manner. Operate power injector for contrast media administration. Maintain accurate patient records. Provide orientation in-service and education for new technologists. Provide for the psychological and physical needs of patients undergoing MR procedures. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow. Assist radiologists in developing new protocols and MR imaging techniques. Understand and use the PACS system. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein. Performs procedures by following and verifying orders from referring LIP. Verifies patient identity and reviews patient's medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures. Provides education to patients/families and staff regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable in accordance with established policies if applicable. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients personnel and visitors by adhering to safety policies. Accountable for the ethical legal and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Functioning as a team member the technologist is flexible in the work assignments rotates to support all aligned imaging facilities when needed and assists with training. Riverside began serving the Virginia Peninsula community in 1916. In 1963, Riverside moved to the present 72-acre location in Newport News on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsulas most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft., $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions only comprehensive stroke center, the areas only open-heart surgery program, the regions only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center. **EDUCATION:** Graduate of ARRT or ARDMS school or program required. **EXPERIENCE:** 1 year MRI experience preferred. **CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:** ARRT or ARDMS required, ARRT (R)(MR) required within one year of completed training.
