Account Specialist I - Revenue

Description:

Parks Recreation and Tourism is seeking an individual with a background in accounting, customer service, and account reconciliation.

The primary function of this position is revenue collections, reconciliations, auditing and monitoring of funds collected within the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. The position provides internal and external customer service in an ethical and professional manner.

Other responsibilities of the Account Specialist I:

Reconciles revenue collection reports to financial records to include identifying, documenting, and presenting solutions to address variances and errors.

Works with the department's accounting team to implement work methods, quality controls and procedures; analyzes protocols and makes recommendations on appropriate updates/changes.

Monitors standards of operations and provide instructional training to staff on Cash Handling Best Practices.

Assist with Accounts Payable processing to track, code, receipt PO's and prepare invoices for payment.

Generates requisitions, submits invoices for payment, and processes refunds.

Assembles and reconciles procurement card transaction report.

Analyzes and researches accounts in assigned areas and provides discrepancies to management.

Prepare and generate journal entries as needed.

Assist internal and external customers with inquiries and/or other concerns related to collection of revenues and/or payment inquiries within Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

Must possess good customer service skills.

Requires strong organizational skills, maintain thoroughness and consistency in work output.

Assist with other duties as assigned.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks while meeting crucial deadlines.

Required Qualifications
Vocational/Educational Requirement:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate's degree in accounting or a closely related field.

Experience:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Requires valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with the City Driving Standards.

Special Requirements:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications
Advance level skill set in the Microsoft Office Suite to include Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Experience using POS systems, and ActiveNet software.

PeopleSoft experience

Experience in developing polices & procedures and training staff.

Previous cash handling and transaction processing experience.

Advance skill level in customer service.
