SA-TECH is a Department of Defense contractor specializing in range operations and maintenance, weapons testing, facilities management, target and tracking system support, engineering services, systems integration, electronics and communications maintenance, and cybersecurity. We operate multiple test and training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy and have a 35-year history of supporting complex DoD programs with quality results.

At NAS Oceana located in Virginia Beach, VA, SA-TECH supports the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE), which covers development, integration, management and support of a multi-domain Live, Virtual and Constructive training platform. SA-TECH is helping integrate the Navy Combined Tactical Training Range (NCTTR) and SCORE into the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).

LVC Engineering Tech V (LATR OPS) at NAS Oceana (Virginia Beach, VA) supports Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) Operations in accordance with applicable directives and plans to meet contract requirements. This position reports to the LVC Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Draws on experience in U.S. Navy fleet operations to support staffs ashore and afloat conducting fleet exercises.
  • Supports U.S. Navy/Marine Corps fleet operational training by applying system analysis and design skills in portable workstation interoperability, shipboard local area networking and computer systems imbedded tracking and display systems.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots the LATR system, Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) and associated displays and computer applications used for aircraft and ship tracking displays and debriefs.
  • Responsible for the installation, setup, monitoring, and debrief of various LATR operations.
  • Aids in the coordination of instrumentation and support for major multi-platform operations and exercises including fixed and rotary wing, ship, and surface participants.
  • Installs and de-installs LDTS at remote sites using SIPRNET, CANES and other networking systems, coordinating with shipboard and staff information technicians.
  • Transports, installs and de-installs Iridium Tracking Units (ITU) on ships, vehicles, and landing craft to bases and facilities onboard naval vessels as required.
  • Coordinates between LATR, CVW and MEU and NSWC detachments, fleet operators and other work centers to provide LATR services.
  • Provides technical support to the hosting naval entity by collecting and preparing exercise participant information from multiple sources for presentation and analysis.
  • Collects and combines data into debrief products and provides debrief materials to designated agencies.
  • Supports other exercises as approved by NSWC Corona.
  • Mission Commanders and Quality Assurance may review work for compliance with accepted practices.
  • Trains and provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Documents maintenance actions in IEMS.
  • Provides recommendations to improve or expand all facets of operations including maintenance, engineering, and logistics support.
  • Ensures economy-of-operation by improving work methods and procedures.
  • Operates TCTS components including Live Monitor, Mission Line-Up, and related subsystems for tracking and debriefs.
  • Operates and maintains current software for LATR computers.
  • Achieves operational qualification as designated tech level within one year of hiring or promotion.
  • Manages TCTS Operations and Maintenance functions per contract requirements.
  • Oversees mission support from scenario development to live support and post-mission evaluation.
  • Maintains quality of contractor range functions, including operations, scheduling, technical library, security, training, safety, supply, QA, configuration management, and documentation.
  • Supports the Configurations Management program.
  • Complies with contract requirements and takes action to correct deficiencies.
  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems beyond standard manuals.
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned.
Work Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Typical office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 50 pounds.
  • Constant sitting while using a computer, constant visual and auditory requirements, and constant mental alertness.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and work under deadlines.
  • Physically able to deploy onboard naval ships and to remote sites for up to five weeks at a time, one to two times per year.
Education / Experience / Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Formal education equivalent to Navy C School or vocational training in computers, electronics, or Operations Specialist.
  • Five (5+) years of relevant experience with potential growth into a management position.
  • Demonstrable experience with U.S. Navy fleet operations, supporting staffs ashore and afloat conducting fleet exercises.
  • Ability to communicate technical and planning information verbally and in writing.
  • Maintenance of current knowledge in the assigned field.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Security+ certification.
  • Ability to deploy onboard naval ships and remote sites for up to five weeks at a time, one to two times a year.
  • Current Drivers License; able to be insured by the company while driving work/government/rental vehicles.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening.
