About the Position:

The Primary Care Behavioral Health Program offers a team-based approach to healthcare by integrating behavioral health providers and registered nurses into Primary Care Clinics. The goal is to deliver evidence-based biopsychosocial assessments, treatment, prevention, and management of behavioral health problems and health conditions influenced by biopsychosocial factors for Military Health System beneficiaries.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties
  1. Apply biopsychosocial evaluations to propose behavioral health interventions.
  2. Provide evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches.
  3. Provide primary care providers and staff with regular and concise feedback on the status of referred patients, including recommendations for team-based care.
  4. Implement psychoeducational classes targeting high-frequency diagnoses found in primary care clinics.
  5. Document information in the electronic health record during patient encounters.
Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determinations, based on a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position involves interaction with children and youth under 18 years of age on a recurring basis, requiring initial background investigation and periodic re-verification.
  • Mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements apply unless exempted for medical or religious reasons (exemption documentation must be provided upon hire).
  • Requires Tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required; Hepatitis B immunization is mandatory for all positions with direct patient contact. Additional immunizations may be required depending on the position.
  • All applicants tentatively selected will need to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • The position is subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing, including testing based on reasonable suspicion or after involvement in an on-duty accident.
  • Work on call during irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules, may be required.
  • A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently issued by a U.S. jurisdiction is required.
  • Obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Advanced certifications do not supersede BLS.
  • Pre-employment physical required, with annual physicals thereafter. Lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.
