Job Description:

We are seeking a Staff Officer – Defence & Security to support international defence planning, capability development, training, and policy initiatives. The role is based in Norfolk, VA, USA and requires strong expertise in international security and defence affairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support defence planning, capability development, education/training, strategy, and policy initiatives.
• Develop and deliver briefings for senior leaders and decision makers.
• Contribute to policy development, directives, and process refinement.
• Coordinate with military HQs, international organizations, and partner nations.
• Provide analysis, reporting, and recommendations on defence/security issues.
• Support meetings, workshops, and international conferences (travel up to 30 days/year).

Requirements

• Master's degree (or higher) in International Relations, Security, Defence Studies, Political Science, or related field; or military staff college graduate (OF-3+).
• Experience in defence, international security, military affairs, or international cooperation.
• Prior experience with NATO, UN, EU, or other international organizations (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of defence planning, capability development, or security sector reform.
• Excellent English communication skills (written & oral).
