Job Title: System Engineer / Information System Security Engineer - R25-023

Project Overview: The System Engineer / Information System Security Engineer will serve as part of an infrastructure operations and maintenance (O&M) team responsible for maintaining and securing an isolated infrastructure consisting of Linux servers and workstations, network attached storage, and networking hardware. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skillset and be capable of adapting and learning new technologies for continuous improvement and evaluation of system optimization opportunities.

The System Engineer / Information System Security Engineer will work as part of a diverse team, interfacing directly with customers, end users, software developers, and other stakeholders. Primary duties include performing routine security scans, analyzing security findings, and helping plan and execute security patches and updates to ensure compliance and accreditation. Other duties may include serving as a data transfer officer, assisting with hardware/firmware updates, maintaining documentation, and supporting business and mission continuity.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, assess, and maintain information security policies for hardware and systems.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and directives.
• Conduct and analyze security scans and assessments.
• Translate security findings into actionable steps for the team.
• Work within an integrated product team with multiple vendors.
• Monitor and remediate security findings within the infrastructure.
• Evaluate security standards and recommend improvements.
• Assist with configuration management and logistics related to the system architecture.
• Plan and execute hardware recapitalization for security and support.

• Knowledge of security policies from CIS, NIST, DoD, CISA, ICDs.
• Experience with security scanning tools (Nexpose, Nmap, Nessus, etc.).
• Experience with RedHat/Rocky Linux security updates.
• Understanding of networking and device security.
• Ability to transfer data securely between isolated systems.
• Strong security principles knowledge.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Work Location:

Travel:

Up to 25% CONUS, including 1-3 days per quarter for equipment updates.
