Overview
The Senior Night Auditor meets guest expectations professionally and efficiently by performing all duties of a Night Auditor and providing leadership and guidance to the Night Auditors at the Desk.
The Night Auditor is responsible for accurately accounting for all transactions completed during the day and verifying proper cash handling procedures. Depending on the property size, the Night Auditor may also perform duties of a Guest Service Agent and MOD.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and guidance to the Night Auditors through formal training and informal interactions during the Night Audit shift.
Serve as the senior member of the Night Audit Staff during shifts. Assist with complex transactions and incorporate training into these activities.
Model gracious, welcoming, and professional behavior to hotel staff and guests.
Demonstrate and reinforce proper procedures as part of the Night Audit Staff.
Assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisors and managers.
May serve as the Senior GSA when scheduled at the Front Desk.
Perform all duties of a Night Auditor, including:
- Hiring staff to ensure coverage within budget
- Conducting orientation training for new associates
- Assigning duties and inspecting work for standards
- Preparing schedules for approval
- Managing inventory and supplies
- Investigating complaints and taking corrective actions
- Preparing reports on occupancy, payroll, and expenses
- Recording data on work assignments and projects
- Greeting guests professionally to create a "WOW" experience
- Maintaining full knowledge of hotel procedures and standards
- Interacting courteously with staff and guests
- Ensuring guest requests are satisfied promptly and professionally
- Conducting daily pre-shift meetings
- Completing safety training in compliance with regulations
- Reviewing management reports, including occupancy forecasts and audit summaries
- Generating purchase orders and personnel forms for approval
- Attending weekly staff meetings
- Monitoring special project work daily
- Participating in department budget formation
- Maintaining QA standards per third-party affiliations
- Performing month-end inventories accurately
- Ensuring staff training per operational plans
- Enforcing uniform and grooming standards
- Reporting unsafe conditions and violations
- Performing front desk functions as needed, including check-in/out and guest service
- Reviewing management reports for daily operations
- Applying mathematical concepts to practical situations
- Closing business day in the Property Management System
- Reconciling credit card transactions and system balances
- Preparing and delivering guest folios and payments
- Reconciliations of phone revenue and other system reports
- Retrieving and forwarding call reports
- Preparing reports for housekeeping and other departments
- Completing various journals and audits
- Performing cash balancing and nightly cash drops
Qualifications
Experience: 12 months as a Night Auditor, PBX Agent, or GSA, or equivalent, with certification approval. Must be in good standing.
Skills: Excellent English communication, prior property-level Night Auditor experience preferred, proficiency in scheduling, PO processing, and expense control systems preferred. Degree or equivalent experience, computer skills, courteous interaction, multi-tasking, positive attitude, problem-solving, flexible schedule, team building, and proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
