Description:

MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia.

JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as a point of contact for Business Systems and Applications. This role is located within the IT Department and partners with the business to implement, support and enhance systems, provide IT services, and ensure high quality solutions for the business processes. This role will participate in projects and work with other business departments and business associates to understand the needs of the business and to develop solutions, reports, and processes to meet those needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support technical systems and align business processes across Vigor Marine Group
  • Identify, create and facilitate process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis and design; focusing on improvement; ensuring data is reliable and valid
  • Lead or participate in both IT-driven and business initiatives by completing and updating project documentation; managing project scope; adjusting schedules when necessary; determining daily priorities; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones; following proper escalation paths
  • Data Analysis, SQL Development and Reporting or to support business decision-making.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization platforms to support business decision-making
  • ERP System Support, including upgrades, implementations, and system integrations, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Partner with VMG PMO and Business teams using the Stage-Gate process for IT Steering Committee approval and execution of projects, throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Developing process improvements or re-engineering and recommending elimination; integrating new systems and processes with existing ones; and partnering with internal and external customers to ensure systems provided meet the long-term business strategies
  • Develops policy and process to maintain data and document integrity
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and super user regarding key operational systems. Identifying operational best practices and recommend system enhancements to increase application efficiency, data integrity, compliance and end user productivity.
  • Identifies and initiates innovations and solutions and puts in place procedures that may not exist. Works cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
  • Identifies and responds to requests for training needs; develops and provides both group and individual training to end users.
  • Identifies and alerts management to stalemates within and among groups to move group forward to successful business process improvements.
  • Identifies the people critical to resolving problems and reaching decisions and brings them together.
  • Utilizes a network of relationships to collect and disseminate information, build support, and secure buy-in for desired objectives.
  • Must be able to influence people, causing understanding and support of process changes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Must maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to project team members as an advisor, rather than through a direct supervisory role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, and/or Statistics or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis required.
  • In accordance with DoDD 8140.0, must possess at least one active qualifying professional certification for compliance with IAT Level I or IAM Level I.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and business processes required.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar preferred.
  • Experience with Python and R and other data analysis and data cleansing tools preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data mapping and data warehousing concepts as they relate to enterprise data management.
  • Proven experience in supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or business system integrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop documents, reports, and dashboards for business stakeholders.
  • Experience in systems integration, Business Process and Solutions Design.
  • Ability to organize and lead small systems improvement projects.
  • Able to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with people at all levels in organization
  • Must be a well-organized, detailed and customer (internal) oriented self-starter.
  • Must be able to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time sensitive projects.
