Principal Photolithography Engineer – InP Photonics

Onsite | Ipswich, UK

A leading high-tech R&D center is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in photolithography for Indium Phosphide (InP) photonics. This onsite role is instrumental in developing high-precision fabrication processes for next- telecom, data center, and sensing technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize photolithography processes for InP photonic devices.
  • Oversee tool setup, calibration, and cleanroom operations.
  • Convert photonic designs into high-fidelity, manufacturable patterns.
  • Maintain process control and resolve lithography-related issues.
  • Explore new materials, resists, and patterning techniques.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices in microfabrication.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process integration.
  • Lead R&D projects aligned with long-term technical goals

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering).
  • Extensive experience in photolithography for compound semiconductors or photonics.
  • Strong skills in mask design, resist technologies, and cleanroom tools (steppers, aligners, spin coaters).
  • Proficient with SEM, AFM, profilometers, and related metrology.
  • Solid understanding of photonic device design and manufacturing.
  • Skilled in data analysis and process control.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration abilities.
  • Up-to-date with industry standards and emerging photolithography technologies.
