Job Title: Systems Application Analyst 3 - XSOAR Automation Engineer
Location: Newport News, VA (Hybrid - In Office Tues/Thurs)

NSC Staffing is hiring a Systems Application Analyst 3 to serve as a Palo Alto XSOAR Automation Engineer supporting our cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Palo Alto Cortex XDR, SOAR platforms, and strong scripting skills to design and automate security workflows that enhance threat detection and response capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and implement automation playbooks within Palo Alto XSOAR to streamline security operations and incident response.
2. Administer and maintain the XSOAR platform, ensuring optimal performance, configuration, and integration with other systems.
3. Utilize Palo Alto Cortex XDR to create and enhance threat detection, investigation, and response playbooks.
4. Develop and maintain scripts (Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript) to automate security workflows and integrate third-party tools.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate XSOAR with APIs, SIEMs, ticketing systems, and threat intelligence platforms.
6. Monitor and troubleshoot XSOAR workflows to maintain seamless operation and resolve issues promptly.
7. Stay informed on the latest cybersecurity trends, Palo Alto product updates, and SOAR automation best practices.
8. Document processes, configurations, and playbooks to promote knowledge sharing and ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

1. Active Secret Clearance Required
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3. 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on automation and orchestration.
4. Proven expertise with Palo Alto XSOAR administration and playbook development.
5. Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Cortex XDR for threat detection and incident response.
6. Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
7. Familiarity with integrating XSOAR with APIs and third-party security tools.
8. Understanding of incident response, threat hunting, and security operations.
9. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
10. Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Palo Alto certifications (e.g., PCNSE, PCSAE, Cortex XDR certifications).
• Experience with other SOAR platforms or security automation tools.
• Knowledge of cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Git, CI/CD pipelines).

Position Details:

• No Travel Required
• Primary work location outside the yard gates
• Hybrid Schedule: In Office Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Building equipped with elevators
• Yardwide access not required
• No PPE required
