SUMMARY:
The Commercial Glazier is responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing glass and architectural aluminum systems in commercial buildings, including storefronts, curtain walls, and window systems. This role requires precision, technical skill, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Our search is currently limited to qualified candidates living within the Hampton Roads commuting area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Measure, cut, fabricate, and install various types of glass and aluminum framing systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Install glass doors, windows, mirrors, partitions, curtain wall systems, and hardware in commercial structures.
  • Apply weather sealants, gaskets, and other materials to ensure proper fit and finish.
  • Set and secure glass using setting blocks, shims, and fasteners.
  • Determine plumb of walls or ceilings, using plumb lines and levels.
  • Accurately layout and measure openings.
  • Operate glazing tools, lifts, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Operate cranes or hoists with suction cups to lift large, heavy pieces of glass.
  • Maintain inventory and care of tools, glass, and materials on job sites.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with company standards, safety guidelines, and building codes.
  • Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and team members to meet project deadlines.
  • Participate in the work on projects daily, while ensuring and maintaining productivity.
  • Ensure that quality standards of workmanship are being followed.
  • Attend/participate in any project meetings as mandated by the contract.
  • Meeting all scheduled project deadlines.
  • Tracking and reporting on progress daily, to include photos.
  • Equipment Management.
  • Compiling project needs and communicating to Project Manager/Operations Manager daily.
  • Accepting and QC'ing material/equipment deliveries to the jobsite - Inspect all incoming deliveries closely for damage, quantities, and quality.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of our main office in Virginia Beach, VA.
  • This is an in-person, on-site position.
  • NEED TO BE ABLE TO OBTAIN BASE ACCESS FOR ONGOING PROJECTS!

POSITION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of industry experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must own industry appropriate tools and be proficient with glazing tools, glass handling equipment, and lifts.
  • Experience and knowledge of means and methods and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
  • Blueprint Reading.
  • Knowledge of Building Code and OSHA Safety practices.
  • Certifications (Preferred: Forklift certified, Fall Protection, Scaffold / Swing Stage, OSHA 10-hour, CPR certified, Certifications from any of the storefront/curtain wall manufacturers)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to perform job duties while standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and on sloped surfaces.
  • This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Overtime may be required from time to time to meet project deadlines.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Comfortable working at varying heights and multiple stories.

SALARY:

  • Negotiable - depending on experience
  • Paid Weekly on Fridays (Mon thru Sun Work Week) w/ paystubs emailed.

  • Earned Leave (Vacation/Sick) - 80 Total Hours Accrued Annually
    • Vacation (24 hours annually, accrued at 0.47 hours a week) - never expires, but caps at 24 hours.
    • Sick (up to 56 hours annually, accrued at 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked) - never expires, but caps at 56 hours.
