Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer – LV Switchgear & Control Panels

Location: Henrico, VA

Note: Need Auto cad Electrical (this is mandatory)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer with 6–8 years of experience in Low Voltage (LV) switchgear design and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with control panel design, electrical schematics, and engineering calculations, and be proficient with AutoCAD tools. This role involves close collaboration with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient and accurate delivery of high-quality electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop LV switchgear systems including MCCs, PCC panels, Busways, Tap-off boxes, metering solutions, and protection relays.
  • Create general arrangement drawings, control schematics, and wire harness designs based on system requirements and standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to busbars, cabling, and load distribution.
  • Ensure designs comply with ANSI codes and applicable industry standards for electrical control and protection systems.
  • Use AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Autodesk Vault to develop, manage, and document electrical designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, production, and quality) to support engineering activities from concept through production.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders across departments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong experience in LV switchgear design and control panel engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard electrical components and protection systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI standards and practices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Autodesk Vault.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with OEMs or in manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to UL standards, NEC, or other global compliance regulations.
  • Strong understanding of wire harnessing and panel layout optimization.
