Responsibilities

Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 108-bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment facility for psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 11-18 yrs. Newport News has an on-site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming. Newport News, VA, is a beautiful seaside city, rich in maritime history, and conveniently located near DC and other major Northeastern cities.

The HR Director will provide professional planning, reporting, and analysis to support organizational goals; resolve conflicts to protect assets; and offer expertise and recommendations for management decisions. Ensures HR activities comply with applicable laws, licensing, accreditation standards, and contractual obligations. Oversees all HR functions including recruitment, compensation, benefits, training/orientation, employee relations, workers' compensation, and maintenance of personnel records in files and the HRIS system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • At least 3 years of management experience; 5 years healthcare experience preferred
  • PHR, SPHR, or GPHR certification preferred
  • Strong communication skills, understanding of employment laws, and knowledge of HR systems and practices
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) standards is highly preferred
