Function The purpose of the class is to perform a variety of duties in support of the operation of the Steam Plant. The class works under close supervision according to set procedures. Minimum Requirements. High school diploma or GED One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in the operation of heavy automotive equipment (forklift, backhoe, dump truck, crane truck etc), overhead bridge cranes or closely related experience. Must meet the Citys required medical standards as determined by a licensed physician. Must successfully pass testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the Citys current substance abuse policy. Must possess a valid drivers license and must have and maintain a satisfactory drivers record based on the City of Hamptons criteria. Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B within 180 days of employment. Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
