Job Overview

The Operations Manager - Grounds oversees all aspects of contract operations in assigned areas throughout the Greater Hampton Roads Area from Virginia Beach to Wallops Island, VA, as well as Baltimore, MD. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and directing site contract operations and supervising staff. The role also involves serving as a liaison with government contract representatives and implementing policies to meet program goals. The incumbent makes recommendations to the Director of Operations, GHRA, and liaises with various stakeholders including government agencies and facility managers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure compliance and oversight for contractual requirements.
  2. Complete required training and uphold company policies.
  3. Estimate new and current business opportunities using industry standards and parametric work loading tools.
  4. Provide expertise for contract bids and proposals.
  5. Act as liaison between Didlake, HQ, and operating locations.
  6. Manage inventory, equipment, and financial reporting.
  7. Coordinate operations with employment services.
  8. Supervise staff and conduct performance evaluations.
  9. Support budget development and analyze financial statements.
  10. Consult on personnel matters and foster teamwork.
  11. Ensure safety policies are followed and promote human rights.
  12. Participate in recruitment and maintain workplace conduct.
  13. Develop relationships with government clients, vendors, and contractors.
  14. Represent Didlake in external meetings and provide feedback for performance improvement.
  15. Identify staff development opportunities and support training.
  16. Backfill Project Manager role during absences.
  17. Ensure safety and compliance with regulations and standards.
  18. Oversee work processes for efficiency and respond to inquiries or complaints.
  19. Perform regular quality control inspections.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience or 6 years of direct experience, preferably in Environmental or Grounds Maintenance.
  • Experience managing grounds maintenance contracts, including reporting, budgeting, and supervising teams.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to obtain Virginia and Maryland Pesticide Applicator Licenses within 6 months.
  • Preferred certifications include Virginia Certified Nurseryman or Landscape Technician.
  • Ability to obtain security clearances, present a professional image, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to analyze financial and legal documents, solve problems, and support personnel issues.
  • Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Access to work sites may require a valid Real ID by May 7, 2025.
