Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Shift: 1st shift, 7:00am - 330pm

Pay: $19/hr

Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician monitors processes and collects data on products being produced and packed to ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and government regulations. This role also assists in training new QA Technicians and supports the overall Quality Assurance (QA) program.

Key Responsibilities of Quality Assurance Technician:

Monitoring & Data Collection

  • Adhere to the In-Process Inspection procedures outlined in the Quality Manual
  • Inspect products on-line for compliance with internal specifications
  • Immediately notify the Production Supervisor of any non-conforming products
  • Work with Production Supervisors to reduce the volume of on-hold products
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork
  • Conduct product evaluations per CFR50
  • Approve or place on hold products/materials as needed


Sanitation Inspections
  • Follow protocols outlined in the Sanitation section of the Quality Manual
  • Perform daily pre-operational sanitation inspections and record findings
  • Inspect equipment between sanitation and reassembly
  • Monitor overall plant and employee sanitation practices throughout shifts
  • Conduct daily ATP Bioluminescent surface testing (or more frequently if needed)
  • Complete all sanitation-related documentation accurately


Gauge Control
  • Check scales daily and tag any that are malfunctioning
  • Complete and maintain scale control documentation


General Duties
  • Support the training of new QA On-Line Technicians
  • Assist in other areas of the QA department as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the QA program


Job Requirements for Quality Assurance Technician:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • HACCP certification preferred
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making abilities
  • Reliable, assertive, and able to enforce rules diplomatically
  • Experience in QA, food handling/processing, or sanitation preferred (but not required)
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Able to work in temperature extremes (-44°F to 80°F) for short durations
  • Available for overtime as needed
  • Team- and company-oriented attitude

Work Environment for Quality Assurance Technician:

This position is located in a plant environment with exposure to:
  • Loud noise, food-grade dust, and odors
  • Moving and vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks
  • Heights, vehicle traffic, oil, electricity, and anhydrous ammonia
  • Adverse weather conditions (extreme cold at 50°F, heat up to 80°F, rain, snow, dust, smoke, and odors)


Allergens present in the facility:
Fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk, and coconut

Physical Demands of Quality Assurance Technician:
  • Frequent walking, sitting, talking, listening, reaching, and bending
  • Manual dexterity to handle and operate tools
